Hip hop lyricist, Idol Essence,
Stand Up Stand Out 2024 winner TEMA,
Soul/ funk singer Romi Wrights,
Acclaimed jazz pianist Joe Kaptein and,
Tui award winning artist Bailey Wiley.

There is an abundance of musical talent that can be found in the underground/fringe music community of Tāmaki Makaurau. Ka Mua Ka Muri Te Iho Auaha is an annual music performance series that shines a lasting light on musicians and songwriters from across Auckland.

Ka Mua Ka Muri Te Iho Auaha is a Māori saying that translates loosely to walking backwards into the future, reflecting on where we are from and inspiring our creative journey into the future. This project brings this saying to life as local artists reflect on the roots of their creativity through interview and performance.
