Midtown celebrating Lunar New Year

Enjoy our midtown neighbourhood of Lorne Street as it comes alive with the energy of Lunar New Year, then stroll the surrounding streets to enjoy lanterns, neon cats and a game of Mahjong.

Lunar New Year is celebrated by hundreds of millions of people around the world and it is an important annual festival held in many countries including China, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, and South Korea.

It is also enjoyed by the international diaspora communities here who bring contemporary aspects to the festivities.

Increasingly, non-Asian communities are joining the celebrations as well.
