Modern Women Archives and their Relationships

  • Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki Wellesley Street East Auckland, Auckland, 1010 New Zealand (map)

Auckland Art Gallery Archivist, Freya Elmer, facilitates a conversation around the lives, works and artistic heritage of May Smith and June Black, two modernist female artists from Aotearoa.

These archives showcase the rich history of practice and community created by female artists during the mid 20th century. This talk draws from artist archives held in the E H McCormick Research Library Archives and supports the current exhibition Modern Women.
