Cantonese Meet and Talk
Every Third Sunday of each month | 2–4pm
Ellen Melville Centre
Cantonese Meet and Talk is a monthly conversation club facilitated by Cantonese in Auckland. This is a welcoming space for anyone who speaks, is learning, or is rediscovering Cantonese.Cantonese is spoken far beyond Hong Kong. Our community brings together speakers from across the world, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, China, and beyond, as well as locally born speakers and second and third generation New Zealanders reconnecting with their heritage language. Whether you're a native speaker, a member of the diaspora, or still finding your footing with the language, you belong here.
For many in Auckland, opportunities to speak Cantonese in a natural, immersive environment are rare and this group exists to change that. Cantonese in Auckland creates a space where older speakers and newer speakers can come together, keep the language alive, and pass it on. For so many of us, Cantonese isn't just a language. It's a thread connecting us to family, culture, and identity.
Join us on the third Sunday of each month, 2–4pm at the Ellen Melville Centre for great conversation, fun games, and refreshments.
